Growing up, my family always had a tradition of cooking a special meal together on Sundays. It was our way of bonding and creating lasting memories. One Sunday, my grandmother introduced us to her secret Beef Lo Mein recipe, passed down through generations. As we gathered around the table, the aroma filled the room, and we couldn’t wait to dig in. The combination of flavors and textures was simply extraordinary – the tender beef, the al dente noodles, the vibrant assortment of vegetables, and the umami-rich sauce. Every bite was a taste of pure happiness, and it instantly became our go-to recipe for any occasion. This Beef Lo Mein recipe not only brings my family together but also adds a touch of nostalgia to our gatherings, making it truly special.

  • 8 ounces of pasta (prepared as per the instructions)
  • 1 teaspoon of sesame oil
  • 1/4 cup of freshly boiled water
  • 1 tablespoon of beef bouillon
  • 3 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 1 pound of beef
  • 2 carrots, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups of broccoli florets
  • 1 onion
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • Oil

  • Cook the noodles according to the instructions on the package. Once cooked, drain them and set aside.
  • In a small bowl, combine the sesame oil, hot boiled water, beef bouillon, soy sauce, and brown sugar. Stir well to dissolve the bouillon and sugar. Set aside.
  • Heat some oil (olive or sesame) in a large frying pan or wok over medium-high heat.
  • Slice the beef into thin strips and add it to the heated pan. Stir-fry the beef until it is browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the pan and set it aside.
  • In the same pan, add a bit more oil if needed, and then add the carrots, broccoli, onion, and garlic cloves. Stir-fry the vegetables for a few minutes until they are tender-crisp.
  • Add the cooked noodles and the beef back to the pan with the vegetables.
  • Pour the sauce mixture over the noodles, beef, and vegetables. Stir everything together to evenly coat the ingredients with the sauce.
  • Continue stir-frying for a couple of minutes until everything is heated through and the flavors have melded together.

Remove from heat and serve the Beef Lo Mein hot. You can garnish it with some chopped green onions or sesame seeds, if desired.
