While visiting South Africa’s Kruger National Park , Ilza de Wet, 50, filmed an elephant using an ant hill to scratch an itch on its behind. The amusing moment happened during a visit to Sable Dam with her husband, Johan de Wet, 53.
Ilza, from Centurion, South Africa, described how unexpected the scene was. “This video was not planned; it happened by surprise,” she shared.

She explained that they were observing a herd of elephants when one young bull lingered and began scratching himself on the rugged surface of an old ant hill.
The elephant scratched for around three minutes, but Ilza captured only the last 40 seconds.
Still, the couple was thrilled to have witnessed such a rare sight. “I’ve never seen or filmed anything like this before,” Ilza added, expressing how lucky they felt to have caught the playful moment on camera.
